Qualifications and Experience

Training

Over a number of years I have undertaken over a thousand hours training in the field of counselling, psychotherapy, coaching and self-development.

I am involved in training other counsellors, have a background as a Tutor in Counselling teaching Counselling Skills and Interpersonal Skills at Guildford College. As a Counselling Trainer, I currently run training courses for qualified counsellors and counselling trainees.

My qualifications include:

• Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling on a course which is accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. The qualification involved three years of training, including undertaking my own course of therapy, so I have a good understanding of the experience of what it can be like to be a client. The overall training (certificate plus diploma) covered areas such as Person Centred Counselling, working Psychodynamically and Transpersonal Counselling.
  
  
• Master Practitioner in NLP. NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) draws on the work of practitioners in several therapeutic fields, including Gestalt Therapy, Family Therapy and Hypnotherapy.
  
  
• Certificate in Hypnosis. Based on the work of Milton Erickson, Eriksonian hypnosis can be used to help you create change at a deep level.
  
  
• Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
  
  
• Certificate in Emotional Clarity. Emotional Clarity (EC) is based on Timeline Therapy [Tm].
  
  
• Diploma in Coaching. Coaching techniques can at times be useful in a counselling setting, where there is a focus on goal-setting.

My Approach

I draw on a wide range of models, including brief therapy and long-term therapy, so that I can tailor my approach to best suit your needs.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within its ethical framework.

Background and Experience

Before training professionally as a therapist and counselling trainer, I spent six years in a coaching and training role. Prior to that I worked in the field of human dialogue, looking at how people use language in real life.

I currently work in private practice and for a national agency, and have experience of working in agency settings both face to face and by telephone.

I am also a volunteer helper at Guildford Contact Centre, for children with a non-resident parent.
